FIBROMYALGIA
It is quite difficult to sense that mere body aches and being easily fatigued are symptoms that you might have Fibromyalgia. This condition is a set of various body problems that we are not really concerned about.
Why worry about body aches, stiffness and fatigue? A dose of your handy painkiller will have that fixed! Everyone gets headaches and jaw pain, it goes off away in no time. Mood changes are acceptable, they happen to everyone. Sleep disturbance is quite normal too, especially during stressful days. But what happens when all these things hit you, altogether, for no apparent reason? Still, you’d think it was mere coincidence. The above mentioned are part of a longer list of its symptoms. To name more, we have:
Constipation or Diarrhea
Depression and Anxiety
Dizziness
Memory Problems
The gravity of the disease lies in the fact that these symptoms can grow worse.
But there is hope. Aside from the long list of medication, massage is among the treatment options taken.
Pain, tender points, and body stiffness are relieved. Massage therapy allows more blood to go to the muscles. Muscles in turn are relaxed, made more flexible, and cleansed from the waste products of muscle movement. An improved circulation also lowers the heart rate and helps the body produce more of its natural painkillers. These two allow an individual to feel relaxed and pain-free.
Massage Therapy also promotes reduced stress and anxiety levels; a feeling of well-being; an increase in self-esteem; and an enhanced positive body image. As a result, one can overcome sleep disturbances, mood shifts, anxiety and depression.
Physical and mental problems can be readily fixed by specific massage therapies. All you have to do is pick one type you are most comfortable with, and get the chance to see yourself improve. We can’t deny the fact that fibromyalgia can be present without us knowing it, but it always is a relief that we can be armed with Massage Therapy to battle it.
