Prevent Hypertension

National Center for Health Statistics awards the top spot to heart disease for being the leading cause of death in the US.  Included in the roster of risk factors for heart disease is hypertension (or high blood pressure).   High blood pressure heightens the heart’s effort to pump blood to our muscles to keep our body going.  Since the heart is working so much, it starts to thicken and stiffen along with its vessels.  When the body demands more blood to the muscles for difficult activities, it will tell the heart to pump more blood.  More blood in the the thick and stiff vessels increases the pressure inside the walls, the pressure bulid up might scar them, and worse, burst the entire vessel.

Nothing beats exercising and a healthy diet in the preventive treatment of hypertension.  But we cannot eliminate the fact that there will be moments that we have no time to exercise or that we get occasional burnt-out feeling with the exercise routine, and we start craving for something new.

This is where massage becomes an option.  It serves as an adjunct to exercise.  Imagine getting benefits as close to that of exercise’s, but with the thrilling perk of getting your body pampered.  Massage Techniques are famous for their “improved flow” benefits, ensuring that the fluids inside your body circulate properly.  There is better distribution of blood in the different areas where it’s needed, thus the heart is not pressured at all to exert too much effort as opposed to when an area of the body lacks ample blood flow.

Prevention is always the key.  We wouldn’t want to be seiged by the number one cause of death, would we?  Especially if we know that there’s a great chance of steering away from hypertension.  Why not start by getting yourself checked by a physician, and be able to outsmart this deadly disease!
